How it works
Premises
The New Model School is able to keep fees low partly because it does not have high property overheads. Each school will need to find its own space in community centres or church halls for a period of several years during which the school establishes itself. After that, the aim is to move into full-sized school premises.
Parental involvement
Parents are expected to actively participate in their children’s education and we stress the importance of parents working with their children at home to provide educational continuity and to instil the belief that learning is not limited to the classroom. Parents are also expected to foster attitudes of respect and courtesy in their children, and to ensure that children do their homework.
Behaviour and Discipline
We are committed to establishing firm boundaries and personal responsibility for our pupils. It is widely acknowledged that bored children tend to misbehave, and that the cleverer the child, the greater the risk of boredom. We will provide a stimulating and effective curriculum to ensure that your children develop a positive attitude to school in the very first years.
Even with well-behaved children, there will always be a need for sensible rules. The New Model School will draw up a contract with each parent and pupil, agreeing on the behaviour required, and laying down the responsibilities of school and parents in regard to anti-social or disruptive conduct and bullying. Children flourish within well-understood boundaries.
